About Us

We are Embe Eatery and Lounge, and we have been a locally owned and operated restaurant and bar in Galena, IL since 2011. We offer homemade deli style food, gourmet soups, sandwiches, and salads. Our kitchen specializes in from-scratch cooking using quality ingredients to bring you our family’s delicious recipes. REALLY good sandwiches, tasty cole slaw, and a killer seafood chowder. The menu offers both hot and cold sandwiches, and is charmingly quirky: for example, none of the sandwiches have tomatoes (they don't carry it), the only chips are Hawaiian onion flavor, and animal crackers is one of the side choices (delightful for kids). They also offer four housemade soups every day, which seems like a lot for the summer in a small joint. But like I said, they nailed at least one of those soups. The photos make it look darker than it is. At night it probably does look a bit like a neighborhood bar, but during the day it is bright and welcoming. Warm service too.
